SAGA

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 September 2026

Saga (“the app”) is an EPUB reader for Android, published by Ramdas Gat (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does with your information.

The short version: Saga has no account to create and no server of ours. Your books, your highlights and your reading statistics stay on your phone — we never receive them and could not retrieve them. Saga does show one advertisement on the library screen; that is served by Google AdMob, and buying Saga Pro removes it entirely.

1. What Saga stores, and where

Everything below is written to Saga’s own private storage inside the app. It is not uploaded to us, and no other app on your phone can read it:

Uninstalling Saga deletes all of it. You can also erase everything at any time from Settings → Erase all data.

2. What Saga sends, and to whom

Saga has no server. It reaches the internet for the following, none of which carry your reading data:

a) Advertising

See section 3 below.

b) Google Play billing

If you buy the Saga Pro unlock, Google processes the payment. Saga never sees your payment details and stores only whether the unlock is owned.

c) Rating the app

The Google Play review card, and the Play Store listing, if you choose to rate Saga.

d) Links you open yourself

Looking a word up, or opening the feedback form, opens your browser. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it, and you can read and edit it first.

3. Advertising

Saga displays a single banner advertisement on the library screen. It never appears inside a book.

Ads are supplied by Google AdMob. To do that, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, approximate location, and coarse device and app information, and uses them to select ads and to measure whether they were seen. This information goes to Google, not to us — we receive no information about you from AdMob beyond aggregate earnings.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android’s own settings, under Settings › Privacy › Ads. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Saga asks for your consent before serving personalised ads, using Google’s own consent form.

Buying Saga Pro removes advertising completely. Once it is unlocked, no ad is requested and the ads SDK is not asked for anything.

Google’s own description of how it uses this data is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

4. Text-to-speech

Read aloud uses the speech engine already installed on your phone, usually Google’s. If you pick a voice marked as an online voice, your phone sends the text being spoken to that engine’s provider in order to produce the audio. That is your phone’s speech engine doing it, under its own privacy policy, not Saga. Choosing an offline voice keeps it entirely on the device.

5. Folders you grant

If you point Saga at a folder of books or of fonts, Android gives it permission to read that folder. Saga uses it only to import books and load fonts, and only on your phone. You can withdraw the permission in Android’s settings at any time.

6. Children

Saga is not directed at children, and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
